If you’re watching the used equipment market, the July 10 auction sent a clear signal: buyers are cautious, and many late-model machines are selling below trend. This wasn’t a small dip—some prices came in well under recent auction benchmarks, even with harvest season looming.
Where the Discounts Hit Hardest (10%+ Below Trend)
These three listings stood out for selling more than 10% below their historical auction pricing:

- 2014 John Deere 612C Corn Head (ID# KP7890)
Sold for $28,250 — approximately 14.4% below past auction comps. - 2020 John Deere 745FD 45′ Draper Head (ID# KP9684)
Sold for $38,600 — about 14.2% under its comparable trend. - 2021 John Deere R4038 Sprayer (ID# KS2427)
Sold for $246,250 — roughly 10.5% below prior averages.
Solid Deals (5%–10% Below Trend)
These items didn’t hit double-digit drops, but still sold for noticeably less than their historical averages:
- 2014 John Deere 640FD 40′ Flex Draper Head (ID# KP9679)
Sold for $28,250 — around 5.8% under past comps. - 2022 John Deere RD40F 40′ HydraFlex Draper Head (ID# LQ6500)
Sold for $62,250 — down 5.7% from recent auction prices. - 2019 John Deere 708C Corn Head (ID# KP7742)
Sold for $38,000 — approximately 5.0% below trend.
Slight Gains, But No Breakouts
Only three machines sold above historical comps, and even then the increases were marginal:
- 2021 John Deere R4038 Sprayer (ID# KP7880)
Sold for $295,500 — about 1.9% above past auction averages. - 2022 John Deere S780 Combine (ID# KP9677)
Sold for $284,500 — about 1.6% above its past trend. - 2016 Hagie STS12 Sprayer (ID# KP7873)
Sold for $140,250 — just 0.2% higher than previous comps.
Final Take
The numbers speak for themselves. Despite solid condition and low hours in many cases, buyers are clearly hunting for discounts—especially on heads and sprayers. While a few combines and sprayers held steady, nothing blew past expectations.
Auctions like this suggest there’s still opportunity for buyers—if you’re watching the right categories.
