Next week, the fields at Decatur, Illinois, are about to come alive with big horsepower, sleek planters, forward-thinking technology, and more. Here’s a look at the gear generating the buzz ahead of the Farm Progress Show taking place August 26 to 28.
Case IH: Power and Versatility, Updated
Case IH is bringing a lineup that spans from big-power tractors to nimble utility machines. Their new Steiger 785 Quadtrac delivers nearly 10 percent more power and includes subscription-free integrated technology, improved torque, higher transport speed, and a stronger emissions system. It also comes with FieldOps support and a warranty covering three years or 2,000 hours. On the lighter side, the Farmall A series returns in 90 to 120 horsepower variants with a built-in front loader and upgraded hydraulics. The Farmall M series emphasizes durability with high lift capacity and a reinforced chassis for heavy jobs.
AGCO: Smart, Autonomous, and Adaptive
AGCO, representing Fendt, Massey Ferguson, and PTx, is coming with a broad range of innovations. Fendt will show a new high-horsepower tractor and precision planter, along with updates to the Momentum planter and Rogator 900 applicator. The company is also highlighting its expanded “Gold Star Customer Care” program with more digital tools for owners. Massey Ferguson is debuting the 5M series in North America, a utility tractor aimed at mid-acreage farms, complete with intuitive loader control through E-Loader and new crop protection tools like the HayBoss DryMax applicator and BaleMax preservative. PTx is showcasing autonomy with the OutRun autonomous grain cart, advanced fleet-management features, and Starlink connectivity.
Kinze: Dual-Product Fertilizer Precision
Kinze is introducing a dual-product fertilizer system for its 5900 front-fold planter. The setup allows two different fertilizers to be applied at once, using row-by-row control for precise placement.
Grain Carts Built for Speed and Capacity
Grain handling is getting bigger and faster this year. The Brent 3298 Avalanche leads the way with a 3,150-bushel hopper, a 1,000 bushels-per-minute unload rate, and a robust track system. The Unverferth X-Treme series covers 1,100 to 1,500 bushel capacities with a folding auger and easy clean-out access. The Parker 1342 offers a 1,300-bushel hopper, 500 bushels-per-minute unload rate, and a side-folding auger designed for convenient truck loading.
Mitas: Tire Technology for Heavy Loads
Mitas is rolling out the Agriterra ULTRA trailer tire, designed for longer hauls with improved load handling, heat resistance, and warranty protection. The company is also showing the Agriterra ULTRA Soil Protector, a VF (Very High Flexion) tire that can carry up to 40 percent more weight while preserving soil through lower inflation pressure and a rounded shoulder profile.
Demonstrations, Drone Zone, and Autonomy in Action
Beyond the booths, the show will feature more than 300 acres of field demonstrations with combines, tractors, and tillage tools at work. A brand-new Drone Zone will highlight drones over 55 pounds spraying crops in daily flights. The Autonomy Showcase will demonstrate hands-off technology that is moving well beyond auto-steering.
